Weekend Chic

Sorry guys, but I’m a little late to the blogging party this week – I took a few days off from my vacation to re-charge. The irony in all of that – needing to take a vacation after your vacation??! Yes, but it’s true.
I was lucky enough to spend the weekend in Miami with my bestie for a girls weekend in the sun. We packed our bags and kissed the Chiberia cold goodbye – or as Nene Leaks would say “Girl, Bye”. Unlike most trips, I had a few days to prepare and pack for our weekend stint. Well, I wasn’t prepared enough – we all loose our minds at some point. We were 3/4 of the way to Miami and I reached in to my bag to grab my camera – after I dumped everything out of my bag in a panic, I come to find out that I never packed it. A blogger traveling without their camera!!!! Hell must have froze over that day 🙂 I had a minor panic attack – when the dust settled, I just hated myself for making such a dumb mistake. It didn’t matter, we were off to Miami. READ MORE….
We landed on the other side and head straight for the bathroom. When you get old, your bladder doesn’t like being on a plane for more than 30 minutes. As Im gathering my things, I begin to notice that my luggage entourage seems somewhat lighter than what I came with. Suddenly it hits me, my panama hat from J.Crew is gone and no where to be found. Oh wait, I know where it is – it’s on the security conveyor belt back in Chicago!!! Word to the wise, never fly at 5:45am – nothing good comes from it other than you arrive at your destination early. No camera and no hat but we finally are en route to South Beach. We spent the afternoon 1) running to J.Crew to get me a hat and 2) laying in the sun without a care in the world. We end our first day with dinner a Nobu – a food experience you should never pass up. After two and a half hours of the most delicious food, we were off to the Broken Shaker for a night cap.
The following day, we laid out on the beach for a total of eight hours – we needed to get our tan on. We got up only to drink our cocktails and to go to the bathroom – priorities. Did I mention how good the people watching was in Miami? I mean, 100 times better than the Vegas people watching for sure! At night we dined at Mr. Chow – a new one for me and a good one at that. Our waiter was from Serbia, duh, and homeboy hooked us up with the only thing that matters – desserts. We rolled ourselves out of Mr. Chow and headed over to the Delano for our final cocktail of the trip – and the most expensive one I might add. After the weekend was over, I felt robbed by Miami – your $25 cocktails anger me, but your sunshine makes me happy.
We came home to Chicago to celebrate our friends daughters birthday – she turned one. She is the most precious little thing and worth cutting a weekend trip short for. We jetted back to the cold, to find out that it was unseasonably warm – thanks Chicago! Since going to baby birthday parties are new for me, I didn’t know what to wear. I went for a weekend chic look and called it a day. You can’t go wrong with a vest, a crisp blouse, denim and a great shoe! Don’t forget to top it off with some great accessories – I picked this Marc Jacobs bag because the color makes me happy and hopefully it does the same for you.
Ok well, thats all for today. This is me signing off. Catch ya on Friday!
