Keeping It Casual in Brooklyn
On our first full day in New York, our goal was to explore Brooklyn to the fullest. Our itinerary – coffee and a bagel in Park Slope, Smorgasborg in Williamsburg, cross the river for dinner and close the night with a show at the Comedy Cellar – not one minute was wasted in our day. I needed a look that was both chic and comfortable. New York is one of the places, similar to London, where everyone has such a defined sense of style, individually or by neighborhoods. I loved walking the streets and seeing so many people with such strong points of view – it’s inspiring and motivating to pack a killer wardrobe.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Sophia Reyes in her studio in Evanston. She has a collection of vibrant and luxurious silks that just melt on your skin. I was completely drawn to this hi-low ombre silk tank for two reasons. 1) it’s no secret that I have a love affair for anything ombre, and this particular ombre perfectly ties in well with a fall color scheme. 2) The fabric is so smooth and has so much movement that with every step the tank shows another beautiful color and shape.
The color in this tank makes such a statement that I paired it with some solid neutrals, so that it would remain the focus of the look. Since I knew we’d get our 10,000 steps in, I wore these super comfortable suede Michael Kors boots, to bring out the brown tones in the tank. The best part about the top is it’s versatility. You can also pair it with a leather legging and a fur vest for a night out!
