Game-day Week One
Going to bed last night was like going to bed on Christmas Eve. Waking up today felt like Christmas morning!!! One more day until GAME-DAY!!! My playbook has been hibernating since January of last year and it’s time to dust it off. I washed and steamed all my Mountaineer shirts and they are ready to go for the season. Check out my first game-day look from last season here – I was a brunette! Ah! Now you know the truth 🙂
This year I’m starting off the game-day season strong – with florals. A trend I love, and a trend I will always love. I enjoy pairing a simple t-shirt, like this one from Fresh Factory, with a bold floral pant – it will certainly be a conversation piece at a tailgate that’s for sure. I topped off the look with a few simple accessories, but enough to make a statement. I typically yell and scream with my arms during a game, so any large dangling jewelry won’t make it through the day.
So this weekend I’m slightly torn (West Virginia fans, cover your ears). West Virginia has my heart and always will….but I love me some Bama – ROLL TIDE! 1) I love their coach Nick Saban – a West Virginia man himself, 2) Houndstooth is a second skin for a Bama fan, and 3) watching them play is like watching men amongst boys – they are damn good. Well…..I knew this day was coming, but I didn’t think it would come so soon. West Virginia and Bama will fight to the death in Atlanta this weekend in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game – that’s what we call a baptism of fire. I have faith in my Mountaineers and their quarterback, who attempted distraction tactics yesterday saying that his first kiss cam from Nick Saban’s daughter. Juicy and I like it. Side note – I like our quarterback Clint Trickett. His dad is likely one of the most entertaining people I’ve ever met – and fashionable for that matter. His father, Rick, now the offensive coordinator at Florida State, is a West Virginian. His ostrich cowboy boot collection will put anyones to shame. That man loves his leather.
Lesson learned – there is always six degrees of separation between you and West Virginia.
Need to contribute to a tailgate this weekend? Try my coconut margarita concoction – you’ll never go back!
Happy game-day! Let’s Go Mountaineers!
