Beauty Breakdown by Megan Riggs

When I made the decision to relocate to this little slice of heaven I call home, I knew some things would change – how dizzy I would get when I stood up too fast, my tolerance for dirt and freakishly large bugs, and my beauty budget. Though I had mentally prepared myself for this, I was not anticipating all things I love to suddenly be nearing gone simultaneously.

It started with my Clinique Even Better serum. Panic ensues. I promptly turned the bottle over and prayed to the even skin tone gods for a few more days of use. The devastation continued when I went to dry my mop of golden locks. As I pumped my beloved Moroccan Oil in my hand, I was greeted with that little pump fart that leaves you with half product, half air. (Dramatically throws head in hands).

The final straw and ticket to my melt down came when I had to scrape the bottom of my Erase Paste, noooooooo. How could this be happening to me I thought as I, in an even more dramatic fashion, threw myself across my bed/couch in my bedroom/living room. Why didn’t I plan ahead? Why didn’t I pay more attention? Why is all this happening before 10 a.m.? So, so many questions, so many tears. The tears had to stop. Crying makes you squint, squinting give you wrinkles and I most certainly cannot
afford Restylane.

Seeing as I have been spotted in City Market post run on more than one occasion, all natural Megan has to look as good as possible. Time to dry my tears and start researching. Here are the results from a little homework and an online order from Walmart. Fun fact, Walmart will ship for free if you spend over $45. This was a life changing discovery. Not only does The Mart make me nervous, it (and Target) are 45 minutes away. No driving, no sweating, no anxiety.

The Replacements:

1. Garnier Skin Renewal Dark Spot Corrector 1.7oz., $15
What a surprise this was. I was skeptical that anything could compare to my beloved Clinique serum, however this gives it a good run. It is a bit more moisturizing than Clinique and has a lovely light sent. It does not leave my face as soft, but I do not like when people touch my face, so that does not really matter. This is a $35 savings and an additional .7oz. of product. Riggs approves.

2. Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum 4 oz., $5
In my world, Moroccan Oil sits on a pedestal and it will stay there, but with new company, on a slightly lower pedestal. I am loving this Organix serum. I was afraid the coconut was going to make my hair smell like a tropical delight, but it does not even come close. The serum is a thinner consistency than my beloved, but from what I can tell, they are yielding the same results. Best of all we are looking at a $29 savings and 4 oz. of additional product.

3. Covergirl Invincible Concealer .32 oz., $5
After paying $26 for Erase Paste, I am a little hot and bothered at how pleased I am with this easy, breezy tube of flaw fixer. The wand applicator provides even coverage, it blends nicely, and has some solid longevity. With a $19 savings and .17oz of additional product, I’d say we have ourselves a treasure!

Turns out drug store beauty has is perks and I have an extra $83…frustration meets happiness.
