Transitional Beauty with Marshalls
This weather is changing in Chicago and FAST – so fast that I haven’t had much time to get my beauty transitional plan in place! Living in Chicago means harsh temperatures, dry air and a wind chill with a heavy slap – that all being said, switching my products from season to season is super important for my skin and hair!
Today I’m sharing some of my best kept transitional beauty secrets on transitioning beauty to winter with the help from Marshalls. You’ll be surprised with what I’m about to tell you
Treat your skin differently!
It’s important to know that you should treat your skin differently from season to season. Your skin can react differently to each season and it’s important to understand how to regulate that. Chicago has extreme temperatures that have a habit of smacking you hard in the face (she does not play nice). I found myself at Marshalls, as always, looking for some cost efficient ways to switch my skincare plan and boy was I surprised when I walked into the beauty section.
I was like a kid in a candy shop – I didn’t know what to grab first. I knew that I needed a great moisturizer to protect and heal my skin, protection for my lips and a great lotion that will lock moisture all day for my body. Well, let me tell you, magic happened shortly thereafter.
My eyes were immediately drawn to the Clinique and Elizabeth Arden products – I mean when do you ever see those products outside of a glass case? Never! This is why I love Marshalls – I was able to pick up the product and read about it on my own without being hassled. After carefully looking and reading about each product, I left with the Elizabeth Arden Millennial Night Renewal Cream and the Clinique Laser Focus Repair. The night renewal cream has changed my skin drastically already only after one week of use – it leaves my skin feeling smooth and hydrated, all of which avoids those awkward dry skin patches on your skin after you apply your foundation!
Switch up your lip color!
I love switching my lip color with each season – it’s a fun a way to break up the monotony with the colors you have been wearing all year. Fall and winter call for deep rich hues of reds and oranges and it’s super fun experimenting with these colors – the only problem with that is finding a good lip color under $20 is like searching for the holy grail! Did you know that Marshalls has a cosmetic section packed with eye, skin and lip make-up? Well you do now!
This Max Studio lip color was screaming my name – the hue is perfect for everyday wear and can be easily transitioned from day to night. It’s also the perfect color to wear with my holiday party look this season, and that isn’t even the best part…..the lipstick was $3.99. Mic drop.
DIY Your Tan!
I’m not one for tanning salons or spray tans – one is damaging to your skin and then other requires me to leave my house in a plastic bag so that I don’t ruin any of my clothes. Well the easy fix to that is some DIY tanning. I hate tights – they are like the plague. I love skirts. See my dilemma here? After a certain point, the wind in the windy city is unbearable and I’m subjected to wear tights to protect my legs, because I hate pants. So many rules I give myself. When the wind plays nice and I don’t need to break out the tights, I love lathering my legs with a little DIY tan at home with this Airbursh legs from Sally Hansen. It’s a 60 second easy fix to avoid tights, and having light reflecting legs
Silky Smooth Isn’t Just for Your Legs
So dry hair is a thing – it’s really and it’s my every day problem. Humidity doesn’t help it and neither do Chicago winters. On top of that I have a regular appointment with my colorist every six weeks – shhhhhh, I’m not really a blonde I picked up a coconut oil mask at Marshalls for just $4.50 to use once a month from now until winter is over, so June! Coconut oil is the answer to everything thing these days and it’s the answer to all my dry hair issues. I leave the mask in for 7 minutes and then my hair is ready for some tough hair straightening with this stellar Absolute Heat flat iron – this iron saves lives and my hair. This iron was another Marshall surprise and might be the best one of the day – the iron typically retails for $100, but Marshalls isn’t typical
How does $39.99 sound? Yea that sounds good to me too.

LOVE that lip color on you! I’ve always been afraid of self-tanning, but I may have to give that spray a try during the winter! Also, I’m sort of obsessed with that marble table/stand!

Lots of lovely products, and I love your pinkish purpleish background to some of your pics! So girly and fun. The weather is changing and I was curious what you use in the cold ass frost that Chicago endures each year – did I mention I have no idea how you live in that city? I can’t deal with the cold nor do I ever want to permanently so it’s west coast living for me but skincare gets tricky even here when we don’t get to 10 or below really ever so I’m always looking for even better products. Thanks for sharing! xx, adaatude.com

I do love me some Marshalls. I forget that they have beauty products, so I needed this reminder. I need to go there this week to check out their home decor section, but it looks like I’ll be stopping in at the cosmetic aisle, too.
