Manicure of the Month

April…historically, the month of showers that brings May flowers. This year, the flowers are here early… at least in West Virginia! All of the trees have bloomed and are getting their leaves and the tulips have been up so long their beautiful petals are falling off! (Insert sad face here!) To keep the spirit of spring rolling as we inch closer to summer, I have selected some of my favorite new, bright trends as well as an old favorite for Aprils nail forecast.

OPI’s Berry Berry Broadway

This is an oldie, but a goodie! It is a rich shade of, yes you guessed it, berry! This is a shade that looks lovely on toes if you aren’t into the whole bright neon trend that is happening right now. It is also a nice shade to wear on your nails for the work week. It’s that great shade that isn’t bright red or deep red, but a perfect shade of berry…which will be ripe and ready to be made into delicious desserts soon!

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?

Purple is a big color for nails right now and this shade from OPI is unlike any other I have seen because of the lovely gold flecks in it! The sparkle in Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? brings new light to wearing purple nails! The fleck is most visible in sunlight, or with a flash as you can see, but it gives it a nice shine for every day wear. I love sporting this shade!  

Layla Magneffect: Turquoise Wave

Magnetic nail polish is probably one of the most interesting nail trends I have seen. When I discovered it a few months ago, my mind was BLOWN and I pretty much immediately shared the trend with my friends. I could not wait to get the bottle of magnetic magic in the mail and immediately put it on. While the application is slightly complicated, the results are AMAZING. It makes a 3D effect on the nail! I haven’t tried other brands, but I do know Layla’s formula is lovely! I highly recommend experimenting with a bottle!  

Color Club: Peace Out Purple  

This is one of the colors I am most excited to wear for the next five months! I was apprehensive about the neon trend, but this shade of neon purple really brought me around to it. I received it as part of my Birch Box of samples for the month of March. (Side note: If you don’t know about Birch Box, check it out here!  http://www.birchbox.com/ ) Peace Out Purple will be a great shade to sport on toes and fingers all spring and summer long! I can’t wait to get a tan and have lovely neon toes by the pool and on the boat!

One way to wear the new neon trend for the work week is to pair it with a neutral shade on all nails but the ring finger, which would get coated with a fabulous bright, neon shade like Peace Out Purple!
