One-Piece at a Time

Happy Hump Day folks! We are half-way through the week and two days closer to the three day weekend! What are your plans for the holiday weekend? My BAE (funny enough those are his initials) are headed to the west coast for a little sunshine and wine – can you guess where? I LOVE San Francisco – the city has so much charm and character. I’m looking forward to divulging in the food scene, walking that off on our trek to the Golden Gate bridge, only to bring back those calories with some wine from Sonoma. Any San Fran recommendations?

Today’s conversation is all about how the one-piece bathing suit has been revived from the dead and is killing it in the swim category. I alway thought one-piece bathing suits were for people of my mother’s generation – after all they were the ones that started the pin-up girl one-piece revolution. Bikinis were always a go-to for me  – I found the style to be more flattering on me and the resources of prints and styles were endless.

I’m my 30’s I have to ask myself questions like, “will that cover my ass”, “what the heck is a cheeky bottom cut”, “who wore it better? me or that 14 year old that came with her parents.” If I has to ask myself those questions then it’s not for me – laying on the beach versus picking my bathing suit out of my ass sounds far more relaxing.

Maybe it’s an age appropriate thing, maybe my taste is evolving, whatever it is, it makes me highly addicted to one-piece bathing suits.  So where does that leave me? In the one-piece category with plenty of chic and sexy options – see exhibit A above. There are plenty of options with sexy cutouts and flattering necklines, all of which makes a stronger case for a one-piece. I like this particular suit for a number of reasons – 1) the neckline and v in the front. I’m not a fan of bandeau tops – their tan lines are unforgiving and only allow you to wear turtlenecks. 2) the cutout in the back is the happy medium between a “full coverage” one-piece and a two-piece. Sometimes a one-piece from the front seems like a good idea until you turn around and somehow your ass has grown 5 inches longer – know what I mean? This cut-out singlehandedly solves that problem.

What side are you on? One-piece or two-piece? Lets discuss!

  1. I’ve always been a two-piece girl! But, I am on the look out for that perfect, chic one-piece! This one looks flawless on you!

  2. Very chic and being a Momma in her 30’s I am always looking for a chic suit that is also age appropriate. I am not 100% out of bikinis yet but I am paying more and more attention to one piece suits and even tankinis…they have really evolved!

  3. This looks so chic on you!! I’m definitely more of a two-piece girl, but I’m sure my thoughts will evolve! <3
