Happy Fridays my loves! It has been far too long and thats all my fault! Life has been a little cray cray with all the travel lately, but it’s coming to a halt soon….before it picks up again! Brian and I were in China for work again earlier this month and decided to travel to Indonesia during one of our off weekends. We spent a number of days at the amazing Telunas resort where our days were spent roaming the beach and our nights were spent in our water hut listening to the crashing waves….can you hear it now…ahhh. I packed along this THE best summer maxi dress in the game (this). I needed something that was super easy and could withstand the 1000% humidity 🙂
Telunas is a three hour boat ride from Singapore. We took a ferry from Singapore to Indonesia and then a wooden boat from mainland Indonesia to the private island of Telunas. It’s the best kept secret in the Riau Islands. The private island area is roughly two years old and it still looks brand new. We had a stunning water villa that was decorated to Restoration Hardware perfection! Each day you ate your three meals in the main hall – the chef was spectacular and put the freshman 15 right back on my ass! Our waiter was far too kind and polite, and spoke little English. He referred to Brian as Mr. and to me as Miss / Mr. It gave us a good chuckle every time we saw him. He he.
The island itself is really small and can take about 25 minute to get around on foot – super easy, but VERY hot and sticky. We opt for water aerobics instead. On the first full day we wanted to be adventurous and took the paddle boards out for a swim. We were very ambitious and tried to paddle all the way around the island. We made it roughly 3/4 of the way around before we came across this HUGE rock ring that added another 30 minutes to our already 40 minute paddle. We saw a boat coming for us as if were be saved…and we were. The staff came to check on us to make sure we didn’t do anything stupid. They asked if we wanted to continue around the island – Brian and I looked at each other and decided a cocktail would better suit us.
This is SERIOUSLY the best summer maxi dress to ever live. It was the perfect item to bring on this trip – it doesn’t take up too much space in the suit and is easy to pair with your barefoot beach look. I don’t think I put on a pair of shoes the entire time we were there! Now thats a vacation right? I wore this dress a couple months ago – see how I styled the dress here too! It makes for the perfect festival look too!
