Am I sad to be talking to you today? No. Am I sad that Monday came faster than it should have? Yes. So don’t take it personally, it’s not you. The incremental weather in Chicago, i.e. the snow, kept us indoors all weekend – it was somewhat of a blessing in disguise as it forced us to get some “around the house” chores completed and a blog piece that we worked on together….more to come. Things I haven’t done – moved my winter coats from storage to the apartment. I’m in denial that winter is here and my look today is an example of my boycott.
Naturally I’ve been resisting the weather with fashion – as if the snow will go away if I continue to wear open-toe shoes. Well, I’ve got to at least try. Last week in NYC, we planned a night out in NYC with dinner at Dos Caminos in the Meatpacking District, a show at the Comedy Cellar (we saw Dane Cook), and wandering in the West Village. After we stuffed our faces at Dos Caminos, we went and laughed our faces off at the Comedy Cellar. Post stuffing and laughing, we wandered over to a couple places in the West Village – the last place being the White Horse Saloon – or something to that affect. We walked in and the place was empty – our kind of place. The best part? The jukebox wasn’t tainted and I was able to put a dollar in and have it play my tune – “Country Roads” of course!
This look is my take on fall fashion gluttony – leather bag with fringe and embellishments, leather pants, nude pumps, fringe/peplum top and an olive colored draped trench. This olive trench coat is the perfect outerwear piece for fall and can easily be transitioned to winter. The trench can be layered and a victim of layering – in the winter months that is. Here I dressed it up with a pair of leather pants and a fringe top. For weekend wear, pair it with some distressed denim, a white tee and a pair of booties – perfection! PS the shoes are super comfortable. They hung in there for 50 NYC blocks – Now that says a lot about a shoe.
