Now that it is officially the month of September and football season has kicked off, it is almost time to slowly start creeping into the fall nail color palate. But before you slip too far down into the depths of colors like OPI’s Linkin Park After Dark and Black Cherry Chutney, take a fun time out with some nail art! 
Since I work for West Virginia University, I have always tried to have fun blue and gold nails for big games, but the Olympians at the 2012 London Olympics really stepped the nail game up, and it seems to have started a trend. Olympians from various countries including France, Great Britain and the United States were represented via nail polish on many high-profile athletes. Here, you can see gold medalist swimmer Missy Franklin’s nails on the podium and gold medalist track star Sanya Richards-Ross’ red, white and blue themed nails.

American ladies have grown to love the accent nail and I found the perfect way to incorporate football into a fun new mani! Make your accent nail look like a football while having your other nails present the colors of your preferred team! Cheer them to a victory while having the hottest nails in the stadium.
So, as football season kicks into gear and the fall weather soon follows, keep your nails spirited and root on your favorite team! There will be plenty of time for those deep, rich colors in the upcoming winter months!
