Working on my Fitness! by Megan Riggs

I am in love with Aspen. The tap water is like pure gold streaming from the faucet, my hair does not frizz – one drop of Moroccan Oil is all these golden locks need, and the gentlemen…where do I start?

Nestled in the 3.5 square miles of this stunning town are the world’s most fabulous fashions: Burberry, Chanel, Dior, and my personal favorite Kate Spade, just to name a few. However, in the midst of all the daily luxuries, there is one thing that leaves me perplexed, the way workout attire makes its way into daily fashions.

Allow me to explain. Say one found themselves perusing the lovely Saturday Farmers Market or enjoying a latte at their favorite corner coffee shop, there is a strong likelihood one will observe, more than once, the following outfit: loose trendy tee, Lulu leggings and Tory Burch flats (in due time they will be Kate flats), fully styled hair and make up all topped off with a giant handbag, pick a designer, any designer. I do not understand it, but I am also not mad at it. The more I observed, the more intrigued I became and I quickly realized I need to step up my workout apparel game.

This realization drives a little further home each time I go to Pilates in an attempt to achieve an Aspen ass. More on that later. Lulu crops aren’t exactly in the budget right now, however I do believe they will make my list of investment pieces. Until then, I needed to find solid alternatives. Yes, I plan to fake it till I make it.

Here’s how it happened:

The UPS man just delivered these crops from Old Navy. The colored waist band adds a little extra pizzaz and they are reversible. It’s like two pairs of pants in one! The quality of the material and the fit were very pleasing when I tried them on. For only $23 (I only paid $18 because I had a coupon) they are a new fav.

Whilst standing in my kitchen/closet wearing my new favorite crops I thumbed through my clothes to see what would act as my loose trendy t. The answer was this v-neck from Gap. I purchased the bright coral one a few months ago and have since bought two more. I’m obsessed.

Since I do not believe in covering my feet in the summer, I selected a little metallic sandal instead of a flat. I put on my giant Marc Jacobs sunnies (investment piece), grabbed my Kori bag from Kate, and of course dawned my pearls as I walked down to the Pilates studio to get my tuck and burn on and test out this Aspen attire. A few
compliments on my top and bag later, I would say it was a success!
