Right so, I know what you thinking, Summer leather? The last thing you want is leather sticking to your legs in this heat, well I say, wear the leather in moderation. With leather found in so many intriguing forms, why not get some use out it and wear it year round!! I mean check out my man Brock here sporting leather year round at the WV Mountaineer sporting events….he is my hero.
So I was somewhat inspired by my shopping trip to Nordstrom for their private Anniversary Sale last week (P.S. sale opens to the public in July 20th)…..I like to call this “shopping behind the curtain”…..makes me feel important. I stumbled across this FABULOUS pleated leather skirt by Halogen….think white light shinning from heaven down on this skirt….we locked eyes and it was over from there. It’s the quarterback of my leather collection; like the QB its the most important and visible piece of my collection! However, this QB may or may not make the packing trip to China….I think they take humidity to a whole new level.

Pair the pleated leather skirt with a sheer blouse such as this one from h.i.p. and you are on your way to creating a summer leather outfit. Oh and not to forget, top it off with some accessories from Cheeky Peach. Sure, in some instances you may not think a leather skirt is appropriate for the workplace, well I beg to differ. In my 5’5 stature this skirt sits about an inch or so above my knee making the length more than appropriate and deemed ready for work! This skirt is your safest leather transition into the workplace.
For extra coverage, wear a nude camisole under the sheer blouse to avoid a wardrobe malfunction at work. Trust me….I wouldn’t steer you wrong. Looking for something to wear out post work? Try this leather faux leather skirt from Hinge. Totally kosher for a night out (not work) and it’s vegan…you would sooo be eco friendly 🙂

My favorite new comeback trend is the peplum top…..peplum post to follow. This peplum top by Halogen is worth having a conversation about and is something you need in your wardrobe stat; I’m talking 90 yard kick return with this top! What makes this top so great is the back portion of the top is a cotton spandex mix, so it’s just the right amount of leather for the work place. I’m not too crazy on the skirt combo in the picture, so my suggestion would be to pair it with this AUH-mazeball blue astor skirt by Halogen…I die! Together this outfit totals roughly $130….notttttt toooo shabby for two pieces that you can multiply and have babies with other pieces in your closet.
One of my favorite trends is the faux leather wax pant. I’m sure that you have seen a few of these around….think wax coating on pants to make them look like leather….again, something great for the environment 🙂 H&M makes a fab pair, but these white wax leather pants from Zara are the bomb.com. I’m thinking blouse with caged sandals? What are you thinking? Touchdown!

And finally, once the weather starts to cool and we have NORMAL Summer evening temps….not like 90’s with 1000% humidity…woof…..this faux leather jacket by Collection B will soon become my go to jacket. I’m obsessed and for $56 at Nordstroms, I couldn’t walk away from this jacket without adding it to my collection. The best part is the versatility of the jacket……wear it in the fall over a dress with some boots, and the carry it over into winter with a tunic blouse and leggings…..the possibilities are endless!
