Moving On Up! By Megan Riggs the Style Saver

Hello from 7,908 feet, Sportsanistas!

Yes, it is true, I am no longer a resident of The Middle. At the end of June, I packed up my life (with the help of my best friend), drove through western Kansas (yawn), and landed in the ritzy mountain town of Aspen, Colorado. So fancy. Now, I am sure you are asking yourself, how does one make their way from Kansas City to Aspen? The answer is quite simple: Kate Spade. I pinch myself every morning when I wake up, open my window, and look directly at the gondolas making their way up one of the most beautiful peaks I have ever seen.

My life is truly blissful now, but lets rewind a month to when I began the cleaning, purging, packing chapter of Kansas City. Cue tears, potty language, some throwing, and all around child like behavior as I prepped myself to life in 277 square feet of pure mountain luxury. 277 – not a typo. Now, my room in Kansas City was much larger than that and the only things coming to Colorado were the ones that could fit in my trusty 2000 Honda Accord, appropriately named Goldie. By the grace of all things spiritual and holy, she made the (slow) climb without problem to the top of the world. Fact:
the tippy top of our journey took through Independence Pass where we reached the Continental Divide at a whopping 12,095 feet.

Moving is a royal pain and unfortunately a fact of life and the huge reality of athletics. Whilst packing and melting down, I established a few ground rules for what would be deemed move worthy. They are as follows:

1. If I have not worn the article of clothing since I last moved or in the last year – charity.
2. If the article of clothing is too big, faded, worn or torn – charity or trash.
3. If the item was purchased at Target and can be repurchased upon arrival at new
destination, towels, pillows, ect. – charity.

Needless to say, there are going to be some well dressed people in whatever third world country the Planet Aid Box ships to. Be kind to my clothes.

Next week we discuss the tap water, my hair, the men, and workout attire.
