A little Footy with my Fashion!

Milan F.C. in Dolce & Gabana at Milan Fashion Week 2011
In honor of the 2012 Euro Cup kick-off,lets talk fashion and how it relates to soccer! The competition kicks-off todayin Warsaw, but before we begin, here is what you need to know about the EuroCup:

The tournament is hosted by Poland and the Ukraine between June8th and July 1stThe tournament features 16 nations51 nations competed for a qualification between August 2010 andNovember 2011The winner gets an automatic bid to the Brazil 2013 FIFAConfederations Cup, prelude to the 2014 World Cup in BrazilNations who host, receive automatic bids to the tournament

Now fashion isn’t most likely the firstthing that comes to mind when someone says soccer. Names like David Beckham,Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry bring many thoughts to surface forme…yum! In the states, soccer aka futbol, seems to get the short end of thestick. What people don’t realize is that soccer is a globally recognized sport with over 3 billion fans!! Oh and these athletes make enough money to probablybuy an NFL franchise….well not entirely, but $42 million dollars a year cango a long way!!! Ahhhh the clothes I would buy! Ok now to the good stuff…..
Im going to put this out there and saythat soccer is the originator in color blocking. Think about it, pairing boldvibrant colors together to create a cohesive look?? Photographed here is theSpain national team color blocking their red kits (aka jerseys) with royal blueshorts.
Replicate your favorite team looks forthe 2012 Euro Cup by color blocking to kill! If France is your team, pair this Rory Beca Top withthese fabulous blue shorts by Sanctuary;you won’t be the one receiving red cards, you’ll be the ones giving them!
Soccer players never pack light….forevery home kit there is a an away kit. Kinda sorta the best thing about soccer;if one set of colors don’t work, you always have the away kit colors to leanon! You most certainly won’t disappoint in these sky blue denim pants by Paris Hilton withthis white poncho top by Whetherly Muse. Of course this is the more untraditional approach towatching a game, but all is fair in sports and fashion!
Before we part, I want to chat about mynew favorite trend…..ring finger bling. The nail tech I see laughs at meevery time I request to have my ring finger painted in glitter; yes, I have noshame and no, that door has not yet closed for me. In honor of the 2012 EuroCup, I’d like to present a twist on the ring finger bling. What better way tosupport your favorite team than with a little nail art! Check out theseappliqués produced by Minx Nails….totesdarling! Minx Nails is a luxury nail fashion that has been producingthebomb.com nail art for you, me and celebrities since 2006. Paint youremaining nails with a color from the flag or go el natural with with Santantonio byOPI.
Cheers and have fun watching some footythis weekend….in style!
