Fashion Homestand!

Happy Friday Sportsanistas! I would like to introduce my lovely friend Miss Rebecca Spalding. She is a dear friend of mine and a Sportsanista nonetheless. Today she is letting us into her world as an employee at Target Field and her game-day must-haves! I hope that you learn to adore her like I do!

Getting to know Rebecca Spalding:

I am the Premium Food & Beverage Director at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.
After working in the Suites Catering department at Soldier Field (with our favorite Mary Krosnjar!) I was promoted to Suites Manager to open the newly constructed Target Field in Minneapolis. I went from working 10 games a year to 81!
After 2 years of being the Suites Manager and managing a staff of roughly 100, I was promoted to my current position where I oversee the managers of all 7 of the premium areas – The Champions Club (the most exclusive club located behind home plate), Metropolitan Club (season ticket holder only restaurant), the Suites (64 total), Legends Club (3,000 season ticket holder exclusive area), the Budweiser Roof Deck and two sports bars, Hrbek’s and Townball Tavern.

In the male dominated world of baseball operations, it’s important that I look my best — which is why Mary is my best friend and fashion stylist 🙂

Game Day Must-Haves:

Burt’s Bees Original Lip Balm – No need for the fancy flavors, just the good ‘ole original is a must on game day. Constantly talking with guests and associates, my lips need to stay hydrated.

Tory Burch flats – I have the Reva flats in four different colors and they are absolutely my ‘go to’ shoe during games. I manage 7 different premium areas all around the ballpark, so I can walk anywhere from 7-10 miles a day without blinking an eye. Comfortable, but fashionable, shoes are a must! I can start out in heels, but these bad boys take me past the 7th inning stretch!

Fructis Style Sleek And Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk – I will go from the air conditioned Suites to the muggy, outdoor Budweiser Roof Deck within minutes and I don’t have time for my hair to let me down. Fructis Sleek & Shine keeps the moisture out of my hair to get me through all 9 innings.

Boyfriend Blazer or Colored Jacket – Working at an outdoor ballpark in Minnesota, the weather can change on a dime. One minute it can be humid and 90* and the next 70* and breezy, so you must be prepared. I keep a boyfriend blazer handy to put over any blouse when the weather becomes inclement and a chill is in the air. Your wardrobe must be versatile to ensure that every game is a success.

Light but Comfortable Blouse – I deal with all different types of guests – CEO’s in the Suites, team President’s in the Champions Club and also bachelor parties in our sports bar Hrbek’s. My attire must be ready for all areas and that is why I LOVE the Len Druskin Outlet in downtown Minneapolis! They bring in new product all the time, so I go there at least once a week…yes, the staff know me by name. Len has everything from jewelry to dresses and everything is – wait for it – 50% OFF!!

And of course, my blackberry – This device is glued to my hand with on-the-go information from my GM all the way to knowing what inning we’re in (it’s amazing that people still think I get paid to simply watch the games!) My phones (yes, plural unfortunately) are my best friend to ensure I stay connected.
