90 Days of White

Old Navy

Hola Sportsanistas and Happy Tuesday! I took the day off yesterday in remembrance and to honor those that have served, or are serving, our country. It’s all about giving thanks first….then fashion! Let the week begin….

Let the wearing of white shorts, pants, dresses, shoes and purses commence for the next 90ish days. It’s time to bring those items out from the corners of your closet, dust them off and get them ready for the Summer season!

Lilly Pulitzer

The rule states, “No white shorts, pants, dresses, purses, shoes to be worn before Memorial Day and after Labor Day”. After I typed the period I could feel my friends from the warmer climates roll their eyes at me! As a resident of the mid-west, this rule apples to me and any of my friends in the area (sorry peeps). I feel that over time a gray area has developed within this rule. I mean every rule is meant to be broken, therefore there is an exception to every rule. The rule is of course modified for those who live, and or vacation, in warmer climates, as the weather permits this transition to occur at an earlier time. Now there is a time and place for everything, therefore boundaries need to be placed. My modification for the rule, “No white shorts, pants, dresses, purses, shoes to be worn before Easter and after Labor Day.” Wear white before or after that…..and you’ll end up in the penalty box….for longer than three minutes.

With that said, here are some MUST HAVE white items to incorporate into your summer wardrobe, AND they are all $100 or less!

Charlotte Russe

Let’s start with the casual pants from Old Navy. I went to Old Navy the other day, not looking for white pants and there they were….with a halo around them. Thirty-four dollars less rich, and these white skinny pants were mine! Wear them with just about anything…oh and they’ve got enough stretch for you to do squats in them! For every pant you add to your causal pile, you must add equal parts to your work pile. These slacks from Lilly Pulitzer should win the Pulitzer prize if you ask me. Fitted in all the right places with crispy clean lines…done!

Big Buddha

Now I’m not generally one who owns a lot of white or wears a lot of white, especially in the form of shoes, handbags or dresses. I’m a virgo, therefore a Type-A, OCD freak that hates getting things dirty. To me white always looks dirty, or I eat like a toddler sometimes and I end up dirtying my white….ugh it’s making me nervous just talking about it! With that said, if I wear a white dress it has a Cinderella timer on it; if I wear it longer than X hours it miraculously gets dirty…such is life. Anyway, this summer white lace dress from Charlotte Russe KINDA makes me want to change my mind of it all. 1) Im a big fan of the mock turtleneck, 2) Love the belt to cinch the waist and 3) Finally a key hole in the right place…the back of the dress not the front…Lord! Oh and did I mention that this dress is $25….Um yea, I think that’s what you would call Amazeballs!

Now the only white accessory I own is my iPod, but this vegan bag, yes vegan bag aka not real leather, is  adorbs and a must have. What I like most about this bag it that it’s not 100% white; that it has other elements such as the faux ostrich neutral print so that it won’t glow in the dark when you wear it. The best part about a vegan bag, is that if you do get it dirty, it’s all hand washable.
Well let the games commence…97 days left…but who’s counting 🙂
