Hey, Keep Your Hands Off My Bun!

In this industry, I’m all about no fuss hair! There are times when I like to bypass the brushing of the hair, sometimes even the washing of the hair. This in turn has forced me to be a litttttttle creative in my morning efforts so that I do not look like I just rolled out of bed. A ballerina bun is an extremely loss fuss hairstyle, and trend, and I am here to show you how to create it!

Now we are big kids, so that messy up-do you created with you hair tie while running to class or your internship, ain’t gonna cut it……we call it a rats nest for a reason. The recipe for a bun is a simple four step process with three ingredients: two hair ties, a couple bobby pins and a tube sock.

1) Use a new hair tie (for its strength) to secure your pony-tail. Make sure to place the height of the pony to your liking as this is the foundation and placement of your bun. I prefer my ponytail to be just a few inches from the top of my head.

2) Once you have tightly secured your ponytail, comb out the tail, maybe even place some product in it, to smooth out the fly aways. Take your tube sock and completely cut off the toe of the sock. Once you have made the cut, roll the sock up to look like a donut. Take the sock and place your ponytail through the center of the “donut”, and push the sock down to the base of the ponytail. If you have shorter hair, go with a smaller sock, like an ankle sock.

3) Create a “fountain” like look with the ponytail so that you are completely covering the material of the sock. If you have dark hair, it may be wise to purchase some dark socks 🙂 Take the second hair tie, one that has preferably been used so that it has some give, and place it around the hair that is covering the sock. The tube sock is there to create an even shape and give the bun that perfect ballerina look!

4) Take the remaining hair and in a clockwise pattern around your bun, pin the remaining pieces until they are all secured in! Spray the fly aways and voila!

Take the weekend to try it out! Have fun!
