In the Trenches

Jackie Kennedy Onassis is, and will forever be, my style icon. Her grace, poise and style made her a fashion symbol and an inspiration to women all around the world, during and after her life. There are many items in fashion that are reminiscent of Jackie O, but nothing has a stronger association to Jackie O than the Trench Coat.

Zara

Like Jackie, the trench coat is a timeless, classic piece that is transferable across seasons and decades. The trench coat is a must have fashion item for everyone. They are 100% versatile and can be worn casually and formally. Remember you are a big kid now, it’s time to buy big kid things 🙂

Luckily trench coats are more accessible than the “look, but don’t touch” trench coats that are produced by Burberry. I am the proud mother of a beautiful red Burberry trench….she came home with me in 2008. Now I am a sucker for Burberry, but not a sucker for their prices. If you frequent Nordstrom Rack as often as I do, then you are bound to stumble across a $200 Burberry trench coat…..I practically stole it!

Zara

When looking for the perfect trench, be sure to find one that is most flattering with your coloring; you don’t want to wear something that will wash you out. Also, be sure that the trench has a belt to synch the waist…..muy importante!! I sometimes like to buy the coat a size smaller so that it is slightly more fitted; I solve the short sleeve problem by slightly rolling them up to give my coat a little character.

Macys

Here are some great trench coats at even better price points. It is no secret that I heart Zara with all my life, and I most certainly heart these trench coats from Zara. If you like light khaki, dark khaki or black, Zara has it all!
