Winter Hair Routine

Blogger Mary Krosnjar sharing winter hair routineIt’s finally winter in Chicago and I’m slowly turning my hair routine over to adjust to the harsh cold temperatures. From products to hair I need to work diligently to protect my course and processed hair so that it sticks with me for a while 🙂 Recently I start the BBG workout which means more weekly workout and more hair washes. Today I’m sharing my winter hair routine to help you keep your locks strong during the cold winter months!

Favorite Hair Products

Shampoo & Conditioner – I’ve recently been trying to be conscious of toxins in beauty products and how they have an impact on your skin and body. When I heard that Ouai was a line a paraben free products, I was sold right away! Ok rewind to the summer right before we left on our honeymoon I got a Brazilian Blowout so that I’d look normal in all the tropical climates we visited. With that you have to use paraben free hair. I noticed that my hair lasted longer in between washed and felt healthier! Since the results were amazing I picked up this shampoo and conditioner by Ouai! I’ve been using them know since August and haven’t looked back!

Dry Shampoo – During the winter months, I try not to wash my hair as much. I find that the more I wash it, the more dry and coarse it feels. Ok now don’t be grossed out, but I wash my hair maybeeeeee 2 times a week…..and I workout 5 to 6 days a week 🙂 I generally let it get to the point of no return and then wash it. Why? The cold weather completely dries my out, so I need to rebuild the oils and moisture in my hair. This dry shampoo is a LIFE SAVER in between washes. I’ve tried so many and can speak the truth on this product – it really works!

Protect & Preserve – I’m really not a product person at all. In my mind, product just makes my hair more coarse and that’s not what I’m going for! After much trial and error, I landed on two products that have changed my hair for the better and have allowed me to continue to go blonder and blonder with each product. This Caviar CC cream is THE best leave-in conditioner in the game – the product is really light so it doesn’t make your hair feel greasy after it dries. It has reduced my split ends and fly aways in my part!

My next and final favorite product is this end mender from Living Proof. After I’ve applied the Caviar CC cream, I take about a dime size drop of the end mender and comb it only through my ends. Since I color my hair…blonde…pretty religiously, I needed a product that would make the bond of my hair even stronger.

Best Hair Tools

In an effort to not dry out my hair, I’ve made an conscious effort to use less heat products on hair. To start, I air dry my hair versus blow drying it. There are those days where I just don’t have the time, but I try to plan out my hair washed to avoid that. With hot tools, I struggle with finding the right product that gives my hair a good finish without having to re-use the tool over and over. In comes the T3 Single-Pass hair straightener….it’s like Santa was listening to my prayers 🙂 Not only does it cut my hair routine in half, but it gives your hair the perfect amount of shine.  The T3 Single-Pass straighter does exactly what is says – it would be the perfect holiday gift this season! Lastly, everyone needs a good hair brush in your life and one that does more than just comb about the snarls. I’ve had a Mason Pearson brush for 7+ years and I’ll never look back. It’s a premium grade boar hair brush that is gentle on all hair types and exfoliates your scalp at the same time – which in turn stimulates hair growth. Winning! Put this on your list for Santa asap!
