And just like that it’s Wednesday. This is one of those weeks that is going super slow, yet super fast. Anyone? I’m SUPER excited about todays post and to share some of the first pictures from our trip to Scotland. Scotland has a super near and dear place to our heart – we traveled to Edinburgh a few years back and fell in love with the city and how they merge new and old.
The people were amazing and the food was some of the best we have had – EVER! They do farm to table so well! This year we went back and took a little road trip around the country to see more and it was magnificent. EEEE! You’re gonna love these pictures from our first stop in Fort William. I wore this SUPER cozy oversized sweater dress for ease and comfort in the car and walk around – for $50 you CAN’T beat it!Since we had a super short window for this road trip I searched the inter webs high and low for some of the best recommendations for a Scotland road trip. There are so many incredible places to travel with such rich history. To mines the amount of driving around, we selected a route that required a totally of 5 hours of driving across three days . Now, Scotland isn’t that big so that was plenty of mileage. We drove from Edinburgh to Fort William on our first full day and it was stunning. The directions took us on super narrow country roads, but that always makes for a good car argument [ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]
[/ezcol_1half_end]Once we arrived to Fort William we headed straight to our hotel, the Inverlochy Castle. Ok friends, if you EVER get the chance to travel to Fort William, you must go to to the Inverlochy Castle. Its absolutely amazing, even in the dead of winter! The grounds have so much charm and the inside of the castle has been preserved so it has so much character. When we arrived we were greeted with a tea and cake service by the fire place. It was nice to take a minute and just unwind and forget everything about the outside world!Doesn’t this place sound all sorts of romantical? We opted not to do any activities on the grounds and save that for another day so that we could enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the castle. We took a short hike around the castle to see the full property. The leaves were still bright and orange from the fall so it was such a stunning hike! We came back in later that afternoon for a glass of champagne and some games! They had board games by the fire you can just grab and play![ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]We dined at their critically acclaimed restaurant run by the Roux brothers – it was insane! Seven courses of absolute heaven! The wine pairings were even better! The best part about our stay is that we never had to leave the grounds – everything was there at your finger tips. After dinner we enjoyed some cocktails by the fire again and played some more games. The whole day was so relaxing and typing this out is giving me some serious FOMO – I need to go back!
[ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]For this whole trip I packed all cozy winter essentials – it was freaking freezing in Scotland so I needed to look cute and be warm all at the same time! This oversized sweater dress from Zara was and is a dream – I’ve worn it I don’t know how many times! It’s super comfortable and is great for so many different occasions!
These boots were a MUST! Thanks to Living with Landyn I found the holy grail of over-the-knee boots for under $200!! They look so much like the Stuart Weitzman version, but for a fraction of the price!!! They are such a gem and I wear them with everything – dresses, over jeans, everything! I also brought along this bag from Hammit – an American leather company with some fab goodies! This nude cross body was the perfect bag to bring along, since I didn’t pack many (see why here) – it went great with all my looks and will be a really great all-season bag! YAY!
Stay tuned for more on our travels!
