Casual + Wine + Donuts = Best Weekend Ever
Happy hump day people! It’s Wednesday, the sun is shining and today I’m talking donuts, wine and casual travel attire. Doesn’t get much better than that now does it!
Today I’m sharing some fun pictures from our trip to San Francisco a few weeks ago. I love the charm of the city and the vibrancy of the streets. We walked around several neighborhoods to really take in the culture in each one – my favorite was Russian Hill. OMG and I had the best coffee of my life there – Saint Frank Coffee. San Fran, let me tell you, you KNOW coffee.
On the first morning we woke up at about 6:00am – #oldpeopleproblems. Since nothing was open at that insane hour we slowly got ready. Our day started with coffee over at Blue Bottle coffee – another amazing place to get coffee. We felt like we were in a scientists coffee lab – we loved the brew so much that we bought a bag of grounds to take home with us! Once the sun finally rose, we walked over to Mr. Holmes Bakehouse – now, I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t what came next. What we thought was a harmless trip to the bakery for some fresh baked good for our road trip turned into 40 minutes of waiting outside – for some delicious goods of course! My boyfriend wasn’t too thrilled, but I was happy to be there – 40 minutes later I was the owner of two savory pastries, two filled donuts, a popover and an american sized croissant. Life was simple and easy that morning.
A few pounds heavier, we headed to Sausalito, CA for a quick bite (because we needed more food) to eat before we got on the road to Sonoma! If you ever plan a trip to San Fran, you must plan some time to see Sausalito. There are a few ways you can get there from San Fran – by car or by boat. We opted for the latter. The first time we were in San Fran, we were ambitious and walked over the bridge thinking it would be right there. Nope. We hopped on a trolly that then drove us the rest of the way. Anyway, it’s a European inspired town just on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge. It has charming little shops, restaurants, and gorgeous views of the city.
At this point our bellies were full of pastries and burgers – nonetheless, we were off to Sonoma for some wine tasting. After about 90 minutes, we pulled into the Red Car Wine Tasting Room for our “Pinot Experience”. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted with Rose – now thats my kinda of place!!! We tried several different pinots that were made from grapes located all over the California cost. It was a ton of fun learning about the different regions and the flavors the grape acquires from those regions – the even better part was drinking them. All of the above warranted a few Red Car souvenirs to be delivered to our home 🙂
Hope you all have a great day!
