Happy Birthday America! You’ve never looked better and I can’t wait to celebrate in your honor with some baseball, nachos and a beer – sounds like a great birthday party to me! The best part about going to sleep last night was that there was no worry about being up for work! No case of the Mondays this week! Woooooo! How’s your weekend going? We have been enjoying the weather, sitting by the pool and had the pleasure of eating dinner on this amazing restored vintage train. Ok, so, more details on the train to follow, but lets start with the goods – this Black and White Plaid Off The Shoulder Dress. It’s the perfect summer dress and easy to wear to just about anything!
This weekend has been packed with a whole lot of nothing and its been fantastic! We’ve spent nearly every day at the pool and have eaten all our meals there. When lattes and avocado toast is at the snap of your finger why would you go anywhere else? I’ve been reading a new book too by author Lauren Weisberger titled The Singles Game. So you might recognize the authors name and thats because she wrote The Devil Wears Prada – one of my ALL time favorite books and movies! Well she is back and it again and has written another page turner that we all need on our night stand! On Saturday we were super fortunate to be invited by some friends to have drinks and dinner on their families restored train car. So, I’m not going to do the train justice by describing it on my little ole blog here, so when you have a moment, check out it’s stellar site here! They were also featured on the Travel Channel! Ok, so, our evening…..
We boarded the train around 6:00pm not really knowing to to expect. We stepped aboard the dining car and my jaw dropped as we walked in the door. I mean, geez Mary, act like you’ve been there before. I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself – there was no hiding my excitement and awe! The hosts were absolutely incredible – in fact, we wanted to over stay our welcome and never leave! Brian and I have this pact for the summer that we won’t say no to anything – it’s a no regrets summer and happy this was a part of our adventure. Getting ready for the unknown on the train, I picked up this gingham dress – it’s the perfect length and has the right amount of frill! Did I mention that the dress is under $30? Yea – you’re welcome! It’s such a great summer piece and easy to just throw on even when you don’t know where the night may take you! I threw on my favorite espadrilles – I linked a similar pair here as mine are from last summer. I added my new summer sunnies for some final accessory touches – they are similar to the Prada version, but 1/3 of the price!
Wishing you all a happy and safe Fourth of July! Enjoy the day, have a beer, eat a hot dog, watch some baseball and take in a firework show. You owe it to your country to do just that and then some!
