Pump it Up

It’s Wednesday (thank the LORD), but feels like a Monday. I started my weekend in Boston on Saturday, spent the day exploring and then partied all night at a wedding. On Sunday I was back in Chicago franticly packing for New York, which I decided to go to spur of the moment….like on Sunday! So Monday morning came quick and I was off to NYC. I stayed at the amazing Gregory Hotel in Herald Square – it was very Soho House-esqe which I loooooooved.

After I gave my armpits a quick swipe and showered in my perfume, I was off to Ralph’s Coffee Shop on 5th Avenue to meet the lovely Christina of Fashion and Frills – if you don’t know her, be sure to check out her site. She is just as darling in person as she is on her blog! Post coffee fix, I ventured the streets of New York, but not too far off 5th 🙂 I shopped more than my carry-on would allow, but when in New York right? I had some time to kill before the event I was planning to attend, so I brought my computer to Bryant Park and soaked in the vibrancy that is New York which checking a few emails. New York has this energy that no other city has – I love it!

Later that night I made my way to Flex Mussels in the Meatpacking District for a blogger networking event hosted by the AMAZING ladies of the Gold Leaf event team. Let me tell you, they know how to put together a dinner party. I meet some fabulous ladies who work in the industry and other fashion bloggers from around the country. It was such a genuine experience and empowering to be around such incredible women! Pictures to follow!

Truth about this dress….so, I LOVE it. It’s the perfect replica to this Mrs. Self Portrait dress that will run you a cool $400. I paid less than $50 for this gorgeous frock! The quality is really good, quite impressive for the price! The only drawback is that the slip was cut way too short, so short that even my butt cheeks felt weird about it 🙂 Since I couldn’t let the dress go, and am too impatient to return something, I layered the dress over a black slip to add some contrast to the dress! Easy fix! My cheeks were happy and I was happy that I didn’t have to return the dress. So, all that said, it’s still a really great dress 🙂

Because pairing this dress with a pair of black or nude pumps would just be plain boring, I matched them with these AMAZING pumps from Banana Republic. I stalked these pumps back in Feb. when Banana Republic showcased them at NYFW. Needless to say, they tested my patience as I had to wait six months until they were available – well worth the wait!

Happy Wednesday!

  1. LOVE this whole look! Genius idea to add the slip…I absolutely hate it when you’re so in love with something and have to return it for something simple that can be fixed easily.
Your hair is also on point!!

  4. I enjoy dresses that are revealing but not so your privates are hanging out and saying hello to the world. This is a lovely dress and it’s quite sexy! xx, adaatude.com

  5. This looks so good on you! Beautiful! I am jealous you met Christina in person! She’s a favorite blogger of mine and seems like an absolute doll! I haven’t been New York and years and I am dying to go, especially to NYFW! But, even a long weekend trip would be fantastic!
